A guest post is a new article published on another website, written for that site’s readers, with a link back to a page on yours. Done well, it is one of the most reliable ways to earn relevant, contextual backlinks. Done badly, on sites that exist only to sell links, it wastes money and can put your rankings at risk. The difference is almost entirely in which sites you choose and how the article is written.
What makes a guest post worth paying for
The site has to be real: it ranks for keywords of its own, gets organic visitors from search, publishes on a clear topic and does not advertise “write for us, any niche, $20”. The article has to be real too: written for that audience, useful on its own, with your link placed where a reader would naturally want it. How we choose the right sites for you
We start with relevance, not DR. A DR 45 site that writes about your industry usually helps more than a DR 80 general news site that covers everything. Then we look at traffic trends (steady or growing, not collapsing), the share of outbound links on the site, and whether its existing articles actually rank. Sites that fail any of those checks are not in the marketplace.
Anchor text and target pages
Most of your guest post links should use branded, URL or natural phrase anchors, with exact-match keywords used sparingly.
